Abstrakt

Partial oxidation gas turbine (POGT) differs from a typical gas turbine. There is used a chemical reactor in place of combustion chamber. In the reactor fuel is partially oxidized in sub-stoichiometric conditions. This type of turbine has a potential to achieve relatively high energy conversion efficiency because of production of two useful products - electricity and syngas. There is also potential for waste heat recovery. Therefore the technology can be used to generate electricity as well as heat or chemicals in a flexible manner. This study presents a thermodynamic analysis of the POGT cycle and also investigates the impact of key variables such as reactor excess air coefficient, pressure, temperature, oxidant composition, steam injection etc. on performance. The results show energy conversion efficiency, specific work, specific fuel consumption and composition of the syngas. Energy flows within the system and proportions between electric power, heat output and chemical energy output have been also determined.
