Abstrakt
This paper deals with the kinetics and mechanism of the subsequent reactions of 3,3′-dimethylnaphthidine biradical dications (DMN 2+ ) with pyridine as the coupling agent. The concentrations of the products of these reactions were spectrophotometrically monitored. It was found that DMN β2+ undergoes a rapid irreversible reaction with pyridine. The precipitated light-yellow product contains chloride and oxygen, which proves that the molecule has the structure DMN(Py) 2 (ClO 4 ) 2 ·H 2 O. A probable model of this process has been developed. This model was verified by means of computer simulation. The rate constants of the subsequent reactions have been determined.
