N2 - The article presents virtual commissioning as a method for design and validation of master control systems, in particular for industrial processes. Based on the car body painting process, the problem of current production sequencing using buffers is introduced. After discussing motivation and the main assumption of the analyzed problem, an intelligent buffer control system is described. In order to illustrate the discussed issues, the article includes a case study. The possibility of using simple algorithms to solve the advanced sequencing problems is verified. The methods are executed by a system intended to a management of the car body flow through a buffer, located on a production line in a paint shop. For sets of input data and selected sequencing approaches different output sequences are obtained and evaluated based on the proposed quality indicators. As a results, the effectiveness of the tested algorithms is discussed and the future sequencing method is proposed.
