N2 - Diagnostic systems facilitate the recognition of technical state changes of examined objects. The paper describes the application of a network model as a model of a monitored object. The author propose an approach for developing a network of statements constituting multivariate messages. The messages are then examined in the form of components of notices (advertisements) contained in a blackboard (notice board). The blackboard is considered as an image of the examined object. In order to allow an application of approximate knowledge, the statements are assigned relevant beliefs that they are true. The relationships between specific statements are then modelled in the form of a set of approximate necessary conditions as well as sufficient conditions. The reasoning process in statement networks is based on searching for an equilibrium state of the network. The obtained solution allows one, among others, to recognize conditional contradictions present in a knowledge database.
