Abstrakt

The paper presents some results of research activities on metallurgical magnetohydrodynamics done in the Department of Electrotechnology of the Silesian University of Technology. Itdescribes research methodology and investigation results for electromagnetic feeding and stirring of liquid metals. The authors have developed methods that allow to analyze in the same numerical simulation coupled electromagnetic and flow fields. Results of computations for three different devices: electromagnetic feeder, crucible stirrer and SEMS stirrer used in continuous casting lines are presented and discussed.
