Abstrakt
The increasing share of renewable energy sources in power generation structures is necessitating the introduction of energy storage systems. One technology whose potential may be particularly large in post-mining areas is gravity energy storage. The article analyses two technical solutions for gravity energy storage dedicated to existing mineshafts, namely the most commonly proposed single-weight system and an original multi-weight so-lution. The main identified disadvantage of the single-weight solution is its lifting capacity, which does not allow optimal utilisation of the potential of a mineshaft. This problem is not present in the proposed multi-weight solution, making it possible to construct energy storage facilities with larger capacities, ranging from 3,14 to 110 MWh. In this paper, the influence of factors such as the depth and diameter of the shaft, the density of the used material, the number of weights and the size of the gaps in the system on the storage capacity was determined. It was emphasised that the adaptability of existing mineshafts depends on their technical state and available conditions.
