Abstrakt
The catalytic combustion of organic pollutants in synthetic waste gases containing oxygen in various concentrations has been investigated. The measurements were carried out using an experimental setup with flow tube reactor with catalyst bed and reaction mixtures of nitrogen, oxygen and 1-butanol or butyl acetate as contaminants. Platinum or manganese oxide catalysts were applied. It has been found, that the influence of oxygen on contaminants combustion degree in the temperature range 570 K is only significant when the oxygen concentration is below 5% (by volume). A complete oxidation took place with oxygen concentrations up to 2 vol. % when a manganese oxide catalyst was tested. The platinum catalyst was perfectly active in the whole oxygen concentration range.
