Colorimetric calibration in the image acquisition process

Colour image acquisition is an important stage in many areas of human activity, for example in industry, agriculture and medicine. Colour image acquisition is done with use of various devices such as cameras, camcorders and scanners. We often assume that acquired colours are consistent with the colours observed in the actual scene during image acquisition process. Unfortunately, such assumption about colours is not true. This problem we can solve by using colorimetric calibration. Article justifies a need for colorimetric calibration in order to obtain a faithful colour information and image reproduction with the use of calibrated monitor.
