N2 - The presented methodology of intelligent design of structures and its applications show that it is effective and useful tool of optimization. We have described several bio-inspired intelligent algorithms based on theory of evolution, immune systems, neural networks and behaviour of biological systems. Applications of them together with discrete models of systems based on FEM, BEM and FEM/BEM turned out to be very helpful in creating new structures. The common feature of these algorithms is the ability to learn, which is usually attributed to natural intelligence. The proposed methodology is very flexible and open-ended, and it is also easy to parallelization.
