Abstrakt

The paper presents an application of the inverse algorithm for reconstruction of the spatial distribution of the heat transfer coefficient (HTC) for a hot water jet impinging a room temperature steel plate. The inverse approach, allows for decoupling complex fluid flow from relatively simple heat conduction inside the solid. The proposed approach approximates the unknown boundary temperature and heat flux occurring at the solid boundary with a compact support functions. Special selection of the functions allows for treating the searched coefficients as the local values of the unknown boundary condition (BC). Applying the Newton's law of cooling forces the temporal invariability of the HTC and allows for avoiding the time consuming iterations. The coefficients are determined in a least square sense from the difference of measured and computed temperatures. The measurements are done by an infrared camera at the surface opposite to the impinged one. The HTC is reconstructed for several geometrical configurations and Reynolds numbers.
