Abstrakt
The barely visible impact damage (BVID) in layered composite structures is one of the critically important factors that affect structural residual life, when detected not early enough. This introduces a necessity of using numerical models for the prediction of the residual life of structures with BVID in order to reduce the number of experiments on real components and make it possible to predict various scenarios of BVID and the resulting structural residual life. Modeling of such a complex phenomenon is usually very challenging, and numerous factors and parameters should be taken into consideration in order to reflect the true damage form. In this study, the authors analyzed selected parameters of numerical modeling of this phenomenon.
