Abstract
Under optimum Fenton's reaction conditions (5 g H2O 2/L, Fe2+/H2O2 = 0.33, pH 3.0, 2.0 h), COD and toxicity were reduced in 90.1% and 53%, resp. The kinetic models developed showed the activation energy required to eliminate toxicity, 38.3 kJ/mol, to exceed much that required to remove COD, 11 kJ/mol. With 8 g H 2O2/L and the reaction run for 4 h, toxicity was removed in 100%.
