Abstract
The paper describes the impact of the cable conductor wires heating because of the short circuit current on the value of the minimum short-circuit current, and consequently on the sensitivity of the over-current fault protection. There have been described standard recommendations in this field. There have been highlighted the main differences between the national standard PN-G-42042: 1998 and European standard PN EN 60909-0:2002 (U). These differences have been illustrated by a simple calculation example. Heating impact should be taken into consideration (at least in the simplified manner) when calculating the short circuit power.
