Abstract
Olefins with a chain length of C30+ were subjected to two-stage oxidn. using a 50% aq. soln. of H2 O2 in the presence of H2 WO4 and hexadecyl(2-hydroxyethyl)dimethylammonium dihydrogen phosphate aq. soln. in the first step (80–90°C), and with air in the presence of water and salts of transition metal (Co, V) and N-hydroxyphthalimide in the second step (120°C, 1.0 MPa). A product with lower viscosity and less carbon chain degradn. was achieved compared to the products obtained in the melt. The presence of water reduced the risk of overheating, degradn. and self-ignition of the reaction mixt.
