Abstract

The impact of the water matrix (synthetic and surface water) on the effectiveness of the organic and inorganic anionic contaminants removal of using single stage MIEXRDOC process, and its hybrid combinations with low pressure membrane processes (micro-MF and ultrafiltration UF) were investigated. The ion exchange process with the use of strongly basic MIEXR resin was performed. The MIEXRDOC process is an alternative for classical ion exchange carried out on ionic columns as the anion exchange constantly takes place on the resin suspended in the treated water. The synthetic water containing fulvic and humic acids as well as anions (F-, Br-, NO3 -) and surface water collected from Paprocanskie Lake (Tychy, Poland) were treated. The results of the study adjusted both, the applicability of MIEXRDOC to remove anionic contaminants from water as well as its combination with low pressure membrane technique.
