The importance of radiocarbon timescale calibration for Late Vistulian chronostratigraphy

Chronologies created for Late Vistulian sites are based primarily on the results of radiocarbon age determinations. It follows that users of radiocarbon dates must realize the importance of the calibration curves used in the calibration process and be able to apply them correctly. The article gives basic information about radiocarbon calibration curves and the data used to create them. Examples of calibration of dates from the Late Vistulian period using the latest (IntCal20) and previous (IntCal13) calibration curve are presented and the differences that occur are discussed. The necessity of verifying results on the scale of calendar years obtained using previous versions of the calibration curve is clearly shown.
