Abstract

In this paper, the applicability of electrodialysis for nickel sulfate recovery from a spent nickel electroplating bath was discussed. The rate of NiSO4 recovery and the electric current efficiency were determined along with boric acid and total organic carbon content reduction. High nickel sulfate recovery reaching 96% and the electric current efficiency of around 79% proved the effectiveness of electrodialysis in nickel sulfate recovery. The study has also demonstrated that total organic carbon and boric acid contents were reduced by 48% and 66%, respectively.
