Abstract
This paper presents a FEM simulation of induction heating of gears. The induction heating of gears was made in used a simultaneous dual-frequency inverter with MOSET SiC transistors. A prototype inverter was built in a half-bridge structure with a series-parallel resonant circuit. The operating frequencies were 8 kHz and 267 kHz, output power of inverter were 3kW and the drain efficiency was equal to 96%. Additionally, this paper presents the analysis of series-parallel resonant circuit. In this chapter the characteristics of impedance module and phase of resonant circuit are posted. Also this article include two co-simulation models made in ANSYS software: a circuit model of the inverter made in Simplorer and a FEM model of coil and gear made in Maxwell 3D. The co-simulation of models was made for three alloy steel: C45, 41Cr4 and 42CrMo4. Simulated distributions of eddy currents and magnetic induction in the gear, as well as energy density and temperature profile in a single tooth are presented.
