Abstract

The paper presents results of effective throughput measurements in an experimental amateur Packet Radio network. We tested how software type and version used in transmission hardware, such as TNC controller, influences on network performance. We selected few software types and versions and tested them on two common hardware platforms based on Z80 microprocessor. In this way it was possible to find out if unsatisfactory efficiency of some TNC controllers network results from lack of their processing power or limitations caused by transmission software.
