Abstract
The series of two articles will discuss selected factors related to the operation of earth-fault protection in insulated medium voltage networks. This paper specifies the characteristics of medium-voltage power networks in industry, issues related to the proper choice of CTs in this type of installation and it also discusses and analyzes potential ferroresonance phenomena. The issues presented in this paper are the starting point for an analysis of the functioning of earth-fault protection, which will be discussed in the second part of the article.
