Abstract
The Internet of Things (IoT) is currently one of the key technologies that brings smart services into many areas of everyday life. Among others, IoT can be deployed in home automation systems, making it possible to turn normal houses into smart homes. Smart home technologies can help with simple tasks like adjusting the comfort conditions and controlling lighting. They can also help with daily routines by providing calendar information, a schedule for events and a weather forecast. Because elements of IoT systems are expected to be connected to the network, one important challenge with smart home systems is to maintain the security and privacy of users' data. This paper presents the security audit of a popular home automation Domoticz, which shows that developers are aware of the issue and try to keep a satisfactory level of software they offer. Based on the results of the security audit, some recommendations were specified which could help to further enhance protection against cyber threats for future versions of the Domoticz system.
