Abstract
The paper discusses the characteristic features of the IEA reference scenario and of the ACT and BLU technology scenarios. A comparison of the information included in the reference scenario with the solutions adopted in the Polish Energy Policy until 2030 indicates that the pace of technological change and reduction of CO2 emissions in Poland is higher than in the EU. The results obtained in the technology scenarios until 2050 confirm the importance of the CCS technologies for achievement of the emission objectives, both for coal and gas technologies. In both scenarios of reaching the desired reduction in emissions, the improvement in efficiency of electricity generation plays a vital part. In the years 2030-2050 a dramatic increase in the production of electricity occurs on a global scale with the use of coal technologies: from 1229 TWh in 2030 to 4872 TWh in 2050 for the ACT, and from 875 TWh in 2030 to 5468 TWh in 2050 for the BLU.
