Abstract

The IFSA Workshop entitled 'Tap into the future: Defining the body of knowledge and trends of fuzzy logic', organized by IFSA, FMFSAC, and Tsinghua University was held at the Tsinghua University, Beijing, China on July 4-5, 2010. Discussions were held on general ongoing pursuits and future trends in the development of fuzzy sets and their role. It was noted that some of the ideas of fuzzy sets were developed in the past, although the technology was not ready at that time to fully adopt them. It was proposed that IFSA would facilitate a preparation and secure a broad dissemination of 1-2 white papers per year, which may elaborate on the most promising research directions that the fuzzy set community can focus on. The promotion of the role and existing activities of IFSA was carefully analyzed, which include some existing essential shortcomings of the current IFSA webpage. Given the structure of IFSA, revitalization of communication with the societies was discussed.
