Abstract

This paper presents ideas and results of upgrading the Dust Research Combustion Chamber. Authors present complex solution that aims data acquisition system upgrading process of the equipment of the Laboratory of Boiler Processes at Silesian University of Technology. The entire device was built on industrial installation by means of the Siemens PLC with further required improvements. Provided solution uses the Siemens Human Machine Interface (HMI) touch-panel that improve data acquisition process, adds new properties and allows retaining backward compatibility. The installed device measures many analog signals in real-time mode and collects all necessary data, which is stored in the special, external memory and can be processed in the future. The paper describes advantages of the provided solutions.
