Railroad level crossing - technical and safety trouble

The article brings up the issue of technical and organizational problems connected with railroad crossings. The authors have presented a functional and technical division of railroad crossings. A railroad crossing, or to be precise, a level crossing at grade intersection is a crossing of a railway line by a road where two types of very different vehicles meet. A rail vehicles with high mass on one side, often several hundred times heavier than a motor vehicle, and a road vehicle on the other. Results of a collision are usually predictable. An increasing number of road vehicles of all types of passenger cars, trucks and truck tractors with semitrailer is accompanied by greater traffic at level crossings and, as a result, a higher likelihood of accidents in their area.
