Abstract

Authors of the present paper discuss possibility of predicting thermal efficiency of a coal stoker fired boiler operating in transient stales. New definition of the thermal efficiency is introduced. Mathematical model of stoker boiler involving kinetics of the coal combustion, heat and mass transfer is applied and described. Presented model allows to choose optimal operating parameters for the boiler in real-time. Kinetics of coal combustion was examined during laboratory-scale experiments.
