Abstract

This paper presents the results of an economic analysis of the combined heat and power plants, based on a biomass gasification process. The analysis is based on the results of the research conducted at the Institute for Chemical Processing of Coal in Zabrze on the innovative gasifier GazEla. The results of the research demonstrate the possibility of the effective production of gas with the quality enabling for its use in a piston engine or even in a gas turbine. The purpose of the analysis, the results of which are presented in this paper, was to compare the systems that integrate the process gas production based on the use of the generator GazEla with a piston engine and a gas turbine. A comparison of the two systems was based on the obtained values of NPV indicator. In addition, the impact of changes in the economic environment by changing a break-even price of electricity, heat and prices of certificate given for electricity produced from biomass and so-called high-efficiency cogeneration system was analyzed.
