Abstract
On the basis of literature data from recently published papers, the electrolytic polymerization of thiophene and its substituted derivatives as well as the physical and electrochemical properties of products have been discussed. The effect of polymerization conditions (type of solvent, electrolyte and electrode material used) on the electrical properties of polymeric coatings formed on the surface of electrode has also been characterized. The mechanism of conductivity of doped polymers has been presented, and the practical potential uses of these products indicated.
