Abstract
This paper presents a simultaneous dual-frequency inverter used for induction hardening of gears. A prototype inverter was built in a half-bridge structure using two SCH2080KE SiC MOSFETs with a series-parallel resonant circuit. The control system was based on a MAX10 FPGA. The operating frequencies were 8 kHz and 267 kHz. The output power of the prototype was 3 kW and the drain efficiency was equal to 95%. Additionally, this paper presents two co-simulation models made in ANSYS software: a circuit model of the inverter made in Simplorer and a FEM model of coil and gear made in Maxwell 3D. Simulated distributions of eddy currents and magnetic induction in the gear, as well as energy density in a single tooth are presented.
