Abstract
Central hot water supply is very popular in Poland, however district heating sector struggles with economical and technical problems. It causes a need to look for savings also in the operational costs. The aim of the present paper was to analyse the influence of the dimension of a pipeline on the heat transport cost, to determine optimal pipeline's diameter, with respect to the heat transport cost as well as to calculate total heat transport cost (related to the whole heating season) in an exemplary district heating network. The results showed, that the selection of the pipeline's dimension is significant for the heat transport cost. Application of the optimal diameters cause significant savings in the operational cost. It was also shown that when selecting pipelines' diameters total heat transport cost should be taken into account.
