Abstract

In the doubly fed induction machine (DFIM), in addition to speed control it is also possible to control the reactive power flowing from the mains to the stator circuit. The paper presents a methodology for the calculation of active power losses in each component of DFIM, depending on the reactive power in the stator circuit and electromagnetic torque of the machine. These considerations are illustrated by calculations and characteristics designated for the laboratory 3 kW laboratory model of DFIM. The result of the analysis is to determine the reactive power flow in the doubly fed induction machine, ensuring zero value of the total reactive power, for which the total power losses reaches a minimum value.
