Abstract
Use of electrical machines in drive systems creates the need for periodical inspections and diagnostic measures. These should ensure failure-free operation and detection of any defects which might directly impact machine lifetime. Diagnostics of winding insulation is mostly based upon DC voltage measurements. These measurements are used to determine diagnostic indicators describing insulation’s degree of wear. The technical condition of winding insulation may be unequivocally assessed by means of these indicators.
