Abstract
The paper presents research results, which concern modern supercritical power generating units. The application of live steam at the increased pressure and temperature significantly boosts the power generation efficiency, which establishes supercritical steam units as a noteworthy option at the power industry market. Nevertheless the supercritical live steam parameters are related to a number of problems, which do not occur in conventional steam turbines. One of them is the optimal application of the materials according to their properties. Since the new materials may operate under substantially higher temperature levels, then it is advisable to take full advantage of this property. The research presented here concerns the problem of live steam temperature increase with respect to the material properties constraints in order to boost the power cycle efficiency.
