Abstract

Nowadays scientists from all over the world are in a continuous quest for improving the performance of cementitious composites. One of the recent trends for enhancing the microstructure of cement paste and thus its mechanical behaviour involves the application of nanotechnology. Although several studies proved that the addition of nano-particles can enhance the performance of cementitious composites, the development of guidelines for designing structural elements made of new material should be preceded by establishment of the material model, which could be implemented in FEM software to perform numerical analyses of the elements. Here we present numerical modelling of cement-graphene composite. The main aim of the numerical analyses was to adapt existing material models for cementitious materials to modelling cement mortar elements reinforced with graphene.
