Abstract
A numerical analysis of a complex stress state was conducted on the basis of a compression and shear tests of wall specimens. The software package MAFEM3D, which uses the Finite Element Method, was applied for this analysis. For two cases, the parameters of the limit surface have been determined by accompanying laboratory tests. Results of the numerical compression and shear tests were compared with laboratory experiments and showed confidence, especially for strength under compression, deformation and cracking. These initial numerical tests were also used for analyses of soil-structure interaction and good results could be achieved.
