Abstract

Experimental data of [SYN93], for K2SO4 and potash alum and two mixer configurations: rubber coated and steel, are used to obtain the attrition coefficient according to simple model of crystal attrition [SYN93], [WÓJ98]. Results are estimated by the gPROMS subprogram gEST using approach of [WÓJ02]. Dimensional analysis is performed for identification of the dependence of the attrition coefficient on process parameters and system properties basing on [GAH97, 99 a, b]. Several alternative equations are obtained (experimental and dimensionless). The Least Square Method is used for the estimation of the experimental constants. Results are compared with the obtained from gPROMS. A good agreement is achieved for such a complicated process and so simple model (mean error for the first configuration is about 19 % and for the second is about 11 %).
