Abstract

The monitoring and control of the states of electric drives equipped with AC asynchronous motors are subject of extensive investigation in many research institutes. However, tests on single drives treated as autonomous machines constitute a predominating tendency nowadays. Such approach does not meet the needs of operational and maintenance engineers, as industrial conditions compel the requirements of complying with several rules, including: fast detection and removal of failures, minimization of the number of configuration procedures run on diagnostic equipment (universality securing the operation of numerous communication protocols and methods of access to the diagnosed object) as well as a wide range of available tools. The authors of the paper have focused on the problem of devising a concept of diagnosing distributed drive systems operated by frequency converters coupled with ProfiBus industrial network and centralised PLC control.
