Abstract

Electric drives are popular in different branches of industry. This trend applies also to the press shops that are using stamping press lines equipped with induction or servomotors. Despite of using of high quality components, unexpected breakdowns take place what causes machine stop. In consequences very often, high costs are generated for the company. From that reason, it is recommended to use diagnostic systems that will allow predicting or early detecting the breakdown. One of the possibility is application of the system based on Motor Current Signature Analysis (MCSA). The method is described in the standard ISO 20958. The document defines the characteristic frequencies for particular breakdowns that may be recognized on the electric current spectrum. Frequency analysis of stator current signal allow to define the peaks that will testify to the damage. Deeper analysis with use of Park’s vectors and Park’s hodographs is also possible. In the article the authors presents the method of detection and identification of electrical drive system faults using features of Parks’s hodographs extracted from them using methods of image analysis. Results of the research shows that relevant features are useful for diagnostics of electrical drive system faults.
