Abstract

We investigate the problem of spectrum assignment for a linear discrete-time completely controllable system that is not uniformly completely controllable. For such systems, there are a number of results on stabilization, that is, on the assignment of the upper or (for uniform stabilization) general exponent. The results on the assignment of other Lyapunov exponents are known only for uniformly completely controllable systems. Here we present some sufficient conditions for the local assignability of the Lyapunov exponents for diagonalizable systems, as well as estimates for the control norm that ensures such assignability. As in the case of stabilization problems, this control in the general case grows unboundedly at infinity.
