Lift force and effectiveness identification in a flag configuration energy harvester

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contributionpeer-review

Abstract

The shape of the obstacle (bluff-body) is important in energy harvesting (EH) from the air flow through the use of a system with a piezoelectric transducer. The paper presents preliminary research aimed at determining the lift force value for an example flag configuration energy harvester excited by air flow. Numerical analyzes were carried out using the finite element method. For turbulent flow, the k-omega model from the Ansys program library was proposed. On this basis, simulations of the system energy efficiency were performed by determining the effective voltage values on the electrodes of the piezoelectric element glued to the beam. The obtained results constitute the basis for the planned laboratory tests.
