Abstract
Methanol is an important raw material today, both in the chemical and energy industries. Most often it is produced mainly from natural gas or coal via syngas. In recent years, along with the deepening of the idea of carbon neutrality, more and more attention has been paid to the production of methanol in an ecological manner using hydrogen from the electrolysis process powered by renewable energy. Green methanol can play an important role in decarbonizing both the chemical and energy sectors. An important aspect of methanol production are costs. In the article, the authors focused on the analysis of the cost of methanol production. Undoubtedly, ecological production of methanol is more expensive than convention-al production, but it brings a number of benefits for the natural environment and helps to achieve the goals of reducing CO2 emissions.
