Abstract
Distance protection identifies operating status of transmission line by controlling the impedance, which is calculated using the voltages and currents values, which are measured at the point of installation of the protection. This causes that this algorithm may incorrectly calculate the impedances, which may lead to false relay tripping. The article presents the concept of modifying the measurement algorithm, which can minimize the impact of resistance faults on the correct operation of the protection. The research results the effectiveness of the proposed solution are presented.
