Abstract
The Corporate Carbon Footprint is becoming increasingly popular as a business-related indicator in the dynamically developing and competitive pharmaceutical sector. Its usefulness, however, will depend on solving a number of methodological, interpretational and organizational problems. The aim of this paper is to present selected aspects of the corporate carbon footprint calculation in a pharmaceutical organization in view of the specificity of the pharmaceutical supply chain. The CCF calculation issues are considered in relation to the index application in the activity of the pharmaceutical sector companies. The following areas of the CCF applications are defined: (1) identification of areas of activity characterized by the potential for a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions; (2) opportunity to use results of the analysis of the volume of greenhouse gas emissions in eco-design of products and services; (3) use of the carbon footprint quantity in communication between interested parties.
