Abstract

The paper analyzes the possibilities of carbon dioxide capture from the flue gas in combined cycle power units by means of the chemical absorption. It was assumed that the energy is supplied to the CO2 capture process through steam at appropriate parameters. The power generating units performance is analyzed before and after the CO2 removal system is applied. Possibilities of using steam from turbines existing in combined cycle power units to supply CO2 separation systems are presented. The discussion presented here considers steam bleeding possibilities and necessary changes in turbine setup. Possibilities of changing air combustion for oxygen combustion in gas turbine working in existing combined cycle thermal-electric power plant were also analyzed.
