Abstract

This work is focused on optical investigations of polycrystalline SbSI photonic crystals. SbSI inverse opals of sphere sizes 264 nm, 326 nm, and 464 nm were prepared. The reflectance spectra were measured for normal incidence of light on (111) surface for the light of range 350–1000 nm. The influence of temperature on reflectance spectra was investigated. The peaks associated with photonic band structure were registered. The results were analysed for the effects of temperature, refractive index, thermal expansion, as well as SbSI electronic energy gap (Eg) responsible for the existence of specific effects related to slow photons.
