Abstract

The impact of the rheological properties of self-compacting concrete SCC both in dynamic and static state on the evolution of formwork pressure over time at different casting rates was investigated. It is demonstrated that in terms of formwork pressure the ability of structure build-up expressed by static yield value gs is crucial. The influence of dynamic yield value g is significant only in the initial phase of casting. Higher plastic viscosity h and thixotropy factor AT delay the SCC structure build-up and contribute to increased pressure on formwork. The effect of casting rate on formwork pressure is discussed in relation to the rheological properties of the SCC and its changes over time. The formwork pressure of SCC at the same casting rate is the lower the higher is the surface module of the formwork.
