title = "Galvanic formation of Zn-Ni/Zn-Co type multilayer alloy coatings on steel substrate",
abstract = "Zn-Ni and Zn-Co monolayer and Zn-Ni/Zn-Co multilayer (from 2 to 128 layers) alloy coatings were formed on steel substrate by electrodeposition from acidic Zn-Ni bath and neutral Zn- Co bath. Samples were tested in a salt chamber by neutral salt spray (NSS) method. Open-circuit potential measurements and gravimetric studies were carried out in a 5\% NaCl solution. It was found that the coatings with Zn-Ni surface layer have higher corrosion resistance than the coatings with Zn-Co surface layer. The sixteen-layer coatings with Zn-Ni surface layer proved to be the most effective in protecting the steel substrate. The Zn-Ni monolayer coatings showed the lowest corrosion potential, which affects the corrosion properties of multilayer coatings. Sample weight changes during exposure to corrosive environment are related to dissolution of the coating and the formation of corrosion products.",
