Abstract

In this paper, the problem of designing infinite Impulse response (IIR) digital filters is considered. It is known that weighted least squares methods can by applied to obtain quasi-equiripple approximation by updating the weighting function or by transforming the desired frequency response iteratively. For given set of specification the designer needs to choose the suitable filter order and group delay which can guarantee a stable filter. This article introduces the formulas to determine these parameters. Good results of estimation are achieved for the filters with a few poles (outside the origin of the z-plain) and an arbitrary number of zeroes.
