Abstract

An axial flow research compressor stage facility for measurements of threedimensional flow field and turbulence characteristics before and behind the impeller of the axial compressor stage with the use of five-hole probes and triple-split fiber probes is described in this paper. A periodic multisampling measuring system has been developed which consist of a triple-split probes straight and 90°, connected to the CTA module, optical incremental shaft encoders, an analog digital converter and a microcomputer. With this system, three components of the mean velocity and six Reynolds stresses in a threedimensional and turbulent flow can be determined more precisely than by means of other methods. Preliminary experimental results are presented for measurement of a flow field behind an axial flow impeller, for the time being, with the use of the straight triple split probe only, to show the availability of this measuring system.
