Abstract
Group 15 ternary chalcohalides (i.e., in the old notation: AVBVICVII compounds, where AV = Bi, Sb, As; BVI = S, Se, Te, O; CVII = I, Br, Cl, F) contain ferroelectric semiconductors that have a large number of interesting properties. In this review, the following fabrication techniques of group 15 ternary chalcohalide nanomaterials are summarized: preparation of composite materials (SbSI dots in sodium borosilicate glass; SbSI dots in organically modified TiO2 glass; electrospinning of fibers and mats; fabrication of piezoelectric paper), ball milling of bulk crystals, vapor-phase growth of SbSI nanorods, graphoepitaxy, sonochemical synthesis of SbSI-type nanowires, ultrasonic spray pyrolysis, filling of carbon nanotubes, solution-processing, microwave-assisted aqueous synthesis, hydrothermal growth, conversion of Sb2S3 into SbSI (by physical vapor method and spinning coating SbI3 solution), as well as heat and laser formation of SbSI nanowires in chalcohalide glasses.
